Gemstone WoW is a free World of Warcraft private server running Wrath of the Lich King, patch 3.3.5a. It is a Blizzlike WotLK realm with every raid, dungeon, quest, and battleground scripted, an active PvP and raiding community, and zero pay-to-win.

The realm is completely free to play. You do not need a WoW subscription, a Battle.net account, or a paid game licence — just a free Gemstone WoW account and a 3.3.5a client. There is no monthly fee, no paywalled content, and no cash shop.

Three steps: create a free account, download the WoW 3.3.5a HD client, and set your realmlist to realm.gemstonewow.com. Our client comes pre-configured, so there is nothing to patch or edit.

World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, patch 3.3.5a (build 12340), with the level cap at 80. That means Northrend, Death Knights, Titan's Grip, and Icecrown Citadel — the expansion most players still consider the high point of WoW.

Rates sit just above Blizzlike so levelling never drags: 2x kill and quest XP, 1.5x exploration, reputation, and gold, 2x gathering, and 1.5x crafting. Item drops, honor, and arena points are left at true Blizzlike values, and the Hearthstone cooldown is cut to 30 minutes.

Yes. Any clean 3.3.5a (build 12340) installation works — open Data/enUS/realmlist.wtf, set it to set realmlist realm.gemstonewow.com, and launch WoW.exe. Our HD client simply adds sharper textures and character models; the gameplay is identical.

Windows 10 and 11 are supported natively. macOS players run the client through Wine or CrossOver, and Linux players use Wine or Lutris. No extra launcher or patcher is needed on any platform.

Gemstone WoW is entirely separate from Blizzard's servers. You log in with a Gemstone account, never a Battle.net one, and we never ask for your retail credentials, so your official account and characters are untouched. Passwords are hashed and the whole site runs over HTTPS.

Private servers sit in a legal grey area. Gemstone WoW does not sell or distribute Blizzard's game client or intellectual property — you connect with a client you obtain yourself, and playing here costs nothing.

Yes. Icecrown Citadel, Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader, Naxxramas, The Eye of Eternity, and Obsidian Sanctum are fully scripted, as is every 5-man dungeon in both normal and heroic difficulty. Raid bugs are treated as priority fixes.

Yes, the WotLK Random Dungeon Finder works, complete with a cooldown so the same dungeon cannot be chain-farmed. Group content is reachable without standing in trade chat all evening.

All standard WoW 3.3.5a addons are compatible, including DBM, Recount, Gladius, AtlasLoot, and the usual unit frame and bag replacements. Drop them in your Interface/AddOns folder as normal.

Everyone levels from 1. We do not offer character transfers from other realms, and there are no paid boosts or instant-80 shortcuts, which keeps the economy honest and makes gear and titles worth something.
