Gemstone WoW is a free-to-play World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King (3.3.5a) private server built for players who miss the golden age of WoW. We run fully scripted raids from Naxxramas to Icecrown Citadel, a thriving open world populated with AI-driven players, active PvP, and zero pay-to-win. Whether you are a returning veteran or completely new to WoW, this is the closest you will get to the original Wrath experience without a monthly subscription.

There is no catch. Gemstone WoW is 100% free to play with no subscription fees, no cash shop, no pay-to-win items, and no donor gear. Every piece of loot is earned in-game through raiding, PvP, or questing. We keep the server running through community support and passion for the game, not by selling power.

It takes about five minutes: create a free account, download our HD client (the realmlist is pre-configured), and log in. No file editing, no confusing setup. If you already have a 3.3.5a client, just set your realmlist to set realmlist logon.gemstonewow.com and you are in.

We run World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, patch 3.3.5a (build 12340). This is widely considered the best expansion Blizzard ever made. You get the Death Knight hero class, the entire continent of Northrend, dual talent specialization, the Dungeon Finder, and endgame raids like Ulduar and Icecrown Citadel, all working as they did back in 2009-2010.

Yes. Every raid tier is fully scripted and tested: Icecrown Citadel (all 12 bosses including heroic Lich King), Ulduar with hard modes, Trial of the Crusader, Naxxramas, Eye of Eternity, Obsidian Sanctum with Sartharion 3D, and Vault of Archavon. All 16 Northrend dungeons work in both normal and heroic. Classic and TBC raids like Karazhan, Black Temple, and Sunwell are scripted too.

2x kill and quest XP so you reach Northrend faster without it feeling like a rush. 1.5x reputation, 1.5x gold drops, 2x gathering skill-ups, and 1.5x crafting skill-ups. Loot drops, honor points, and arena points stay at Blizzlike 1x rates so gearing still feels rewarding. Hearthstone cooldown is reduced to 30 minutes for quality-of-life.

Both. We have real players and a large population of AI-driven bots that quest, dungeon, PvP, chat, and behave like actual humans. They use realistic pathing, respond to whispers, form groups, and progress through content. The result is a world that always feels alive regardless of time zone, so you are never questing alone at 3 AM.

Yes. You can invite bots to your party and they will tank, heal, or DPS based on their spec. They follow proper dungeon mechanics, use crowd control, and respond to raid markers. It is a great way to run 5-mans when your guild is offline, or to fill that last spot in a raid. They are not a replacement for skilled players, but they get the job done.

Our game servers are hosted on dedicated hardware in a data center with global routing optimization. Players from Europe, North America, Asia, and Oceania all report stable connections. Most players see 30-150ms depending on location, which is perfectly playable for both PvE and PvP.

Private servers operate in a legal gray area. We do not distribute Blizzard's game client and we do not touch your retail WoW account. Your private server account is completely separate. Thousands of players enjoy WotLK private servers daily without any issues. We recommend using a unique password for your Gemstone account, as you should with any online service.

Every standard WoW 3.3.5a addon works out of the box: Deadly Boss Mods (DBM), Recount/Skada, Gladius, AtlasLoot, Questie, Bartender, Grid, Auctioneer, and thousands more. If it worked on retail WotLK, it works here.

Not at all. We have an active Discord community with players forming groups, discussing builds, and sharing their progress daily. The in-game world is populated around the clock thanks to our bot system, and real players organize raids, arena teams, and world PvP events regularly.
